Monkton Wyld Farm Yurt
Over the years we have often been asked if we are able to provide ready equipped tents. We have gone one better and can now offer a fully equipped 20' diameter 'Yurt' for your holiday.
Yurts are traditional tent dwellings from central Asia that have been in use for hundreds if not thousands of years.
This hand built yurt is made in the west country by local craftsman using natural materials. The walls are a traditional trellis construction and together with the roof spars are made of ash. There is a solid elm timber floor. The entrance is a solid ash double door!! The tent material is heavy duty Indian canvas, able to withstand all that West country weather can throw at it. In the hot days of summer the yurt remains comfortably cool. Although of traditional design, the yurt at Monkton Wyld is designed for a comfortable family holiday. The main yurt provides sleeping for four an adjacent traditionally designed tent provides further sleeping accommodation for two.
A wood burning stove is a central feature of the yurt, suitable for taking the chill off a cool spring evening and making the yurt a cosy retreat on blustery autumn days after an exhilarating walk along the Dorset Heritage coast. The yurt is beautifully furnished with floor and wall rugs. There is a small kitchen area that includes an electric hob and oven, electric kettle, a full size fridge, cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, cutlery etc. and dining table and chairs. A small television is available. There is also a coffee table, and a picnic table.
