Seaton Tramway Devon

A-La-Ronde

A La Ronde

An incredible curious, intriguing and amazing sight to see – this unique sixteen-sided house was built for two spinster cousins, Jane and Mary Parminter, on their return from atour of Europe in the late 18th century. It contains many objects and mementoes of their travels. It includes an amazing and very fragile, shell-encrusted gallery (with reportedly 25,000 shells) as well as a feather frieze, gathered from native birds and stuck down with isinglass.

St Candida and Holy Cross

It is the only shrine with relics in an English parish church and the only shrine and relics in the country to survive the Reformation besides Edward the Confessor’s in Westminster Abbey. The relics belong to St Candida (the Latin form of St Wite) to whom the church is dedicated. The church been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.

The Fleet Air Arm Museum is devoted to the history of British naval aviation. It has an extensive collection of military and civilian aircraft, aero engines, models of aircraft and Royal Navy ships especially aircraft carriers. It’s also 25 miles from the site, so would be great with a day made out of it and stopping off for a spot of lunch whilst enjoying the area!
