The Local Area

Monkton Wyld Farm is located three miles inland on the edge of The Marshwood Vale, a sparsely populated area with small family farms dotted across the landscape.

The coastal towns of Charmouth and Lyme Regis have a great deal of charm and are only a few minutes away.

Lyme Regis has a maze of little streets leading down to an ancient harbour, known as The Cobb. The Cobb has existed since the 13th Century and has a long history as a trading port. Today, The Cobb is used by fishing boats and pleasure craft and is connected to the main town along a picturesque promenade. There are many places to eat to suit all tastes.

Charmouth provides an ideal location to escape to the beach. The beach is sandy and gently sloping, ideal for bathing. At low tide rock pools appear providing hours of fun for explorers - both young and old alike.

Charmouth and Lyme Regis are central to the Jurassic Heritage Coastline, famous for its millions of fossils. An information centre is located on the seafront at Charmouth that provides fascinating insights into the history of the coastline.

Local Services. Charmouth and Lyme Regis have a good range of shops. The nearest shop and post office is a mile from the park. Axminster, four miles away has many facilities including a large supermarket.
