Things to do - Walking & Cycling
Walking & Cycling
Monkton Wyld Holiday Park is fortunate in that it benefits from proximity to the heritage coast and the lovely countryside that is West Dorset. Many of our visitors enjoy our local walking routes and in reception we have available a wide variety of information and free walking cards which may be borrowed for a day or two.

Few things give the sense of freedom and wellbeing like riding a bike in spectacular countryside. While West Dorset is a great place to explore, we’d be the first to admit that it isn't exactly flat! However, you won't need to worry about hills on one of our incredible electric bikes as they provide assistance just when you need it most, making cycling an absolute breeze. From the park there are two walks to Lyme Regis through woods and countryside and a further one for those who wish to explore the quieter lanes down to Lyme Regis. Likewise there is a 2 hour walk marked out to Charmouth which ends with a pleasant walk along the banks of the River Char. For the serious walker we have inland routes with where possible a pub lunch indicated. We always suggest that the no 31 bus back from Lyme or Charmouth is taken which drops you off at Hunters Lodge leaving a level 1 mile walk back to the park. For those whose inclinations lie in more leisurely evening strolls or less ambitious circular walks direct from the park our information point provides a wealth of suggestions. |

Cyclists are not forgotten. We have a few 2 - 4 hour cycle routes available which carefully avoid the steep hills of West Dorset. Local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when planning these days out. Remember to visit Goldern Cap and Stone Barrow. Also the walk to the Undercliff will see you retrace the steps taken by the actors in the film 'The French Lieutenant's Woman'. |
